Apresia®
Preventing Scarring and Pigment Spots
Causes of Acne Scars:
As explained in the section on "How Apresia Works," moderate to severe
acne places a heavy burden on the skin's immune (healing and repair) functions
and eventually depletes a number of important chemicals from the skin, including
zinc. Zinc is involved in many of the skin's healing processes and repair functions. This includes
the production of collagen and elastin to bind
the skin, the duplication process for new replacement cells and the
production of tissues/substances.
When healthy skin repairs an injury there is usually a slight rise or dome at the end of the repair process, as too much elastic fiber and tissue substance have been produced. Some as yet unknown mechanism within the skin triggers a brief production of metalloproteinases that removes the excess elastic fibers and substances, leaving the repair flat and smooth.
Since acne consumes so much of the skin's available supply of important chemicals, like zinc, it is believed the repair process is inadequate. Too little collagen and elastin are produced, cells are slow to divide and the skin generally lacks the co-factors and/or enzymes (such as zinc) to adequately replace tissue/substances. As a result, at the end of the repair process there is a severe depression (a pox mark or scar) at the site of the injury.
This inadequate repair process can be further compromised by "picking" at the injury or the development of secondary infections around the initial injury.
Preventing Acne Scars:
Apresia's Acne Inhibiting Gel rebalances the skin's chemical composition in acne
sites. It elevates the skin's zinc content to facilitate complete repair
from acne injury. It elevates antioxidant levels to promote efficient repair
functions. Acne Inhibiting Gel also contains specific natural biochemicals
that are know to stimulate "cytokines" that drive and regulate the
repair process. The use of Acne
Inhibiting Gel acts to control or eliminate acne and secondarily promotes the
skin's repair processes to significantly reduce the potential of
scarring.
Causes of Pigment
Spots:
Pigment (melanin) is produced in the skin as a natural result of skin
injury. The injury could be a cut or a burn or an infection, such as
acne. Pigment can also be caused or exaggerated by hormones within the
skin. Acne is an infection (an injury) that can result in a pigment
spot. Depending upon the severity of the injury, the spot may remain
visible four to eight weeks. Dark skin is especially prone to pigment
spots resulting from inflammation. Special care must be taken not to pick
or squeeze, as these actions increase the potential of pigment spots.
Preventing Pigment Spots:
Since pigment spots are a direct result of acne infections, eliminating acne
and/or reducing its severity, will eliminate pigment spots and/or reduce their
depth of color and duration. Rather than attempting to treat or lighten
the pigment, it makes much more sense to effectively control or eliminate acne,
which is the cause of the pigment.
Apresia Acne Skin Care products can effectively control or eliminate acne, which will reduce or eliminate new pigment spots. Existing spots will clear within four to eight weeks and the frequency of pigment spots will be significantly reduced or totally eliminated.
As explained in the section on "How Apresia Works," acne depletes a number of important biochemicals from the skin, including zinc. Zinc is the most prevalent mineral in melanocytes (the cells that produce pigment) and it acts to inhibit the production of pigment (melanin). As acne infections and skin repair processes consume the skin's available zinc, its presence in melanocytes is diminished and this condition promotes pigment.
Apresia's Acne Inhibiting Gel corrects many of the biochemical imbalances created by acne, including the zinc deficiency. As a result, Acne Inhibiting Gel works to eliminate acne and reduce pigment spots simultaneously.
